Comments: For #118 of 15_minute_fic. I CAN STILL WRITE. ;A;

“I thought you were certain you didn’t love me.”

The words came out as bitter as the smoke that he tasted at the back of his mouth, making him grimace, more so when the words didn’t even seem to faze Aoi. Ruki snorted loudly at that, figuring he wouldn’t get any reaction from the other man anyway and decided to just stay silent, half because he was waiting for the other to answer, half because he didn’t want to be the one to beg again.

He just watched as the cloud of smoke that Aoi blew intermingled with the one he did, thinking about how his first words probably came out wrong. Even if Aoi was the one to drag him out here (not even by force but just by mere words), that didn’t mean that the older already loved Ruki as Ruki does him. Wanting to talk doesn’t equate to loving a person that way.

Another grunt came out of Ruki, waving the almost invisible particles that fogged up his sight. It frustrated him that the mixture of their breaths was probably the closest he could ever get to Aoi, not even if he was just beside him. It frustrated him that even if Aoi was supposedly as easy as a book to read, still he couldn’t read the words that hid behind those fathomless eyes.

It was frustrating to stay there, and so Ruki dropped his barely touched cigarette on the ground, stubbing it on his heel and was about to get up, not even bothering to change his words to something as simple as, ‘What did you want to talk about?’ or ‘Why did you drag me out?’ or a simpler, ‘What do you want?’ He was just far too impatient for that.

But before he could reach the door that led back to the building there was an unpleasant scent that filled his nose – the scent of cigarettes – and he was sure it didn’t come from his mouth. And before he could move any further he was being pulled back, and there was nothing for Ruki to do but to melt into Aoi’s arms.

“Things change,” were the only words that filled Ruki’s ear before he tasted the tang of smoke that didn’t seem all too bitter anymore.
